Dear Reader.

If ever I were to feel an article deeply in my bones, it’s this one. Living with courage as a Christian is an expression of confidence in God, love for what’s right and good, care for others, and a commitment to bold faithfulness regardless. Sometimes the exercise of courage has meant getting up to care for Calvin another day, holding fast to what’s true publicly at a cost, and other times letting a dream die or a personal desire go unfulfilled out of obedience to Christ and love for others.

It’s freeing, at times terrifying, and always the best way to live.

It is human nature to run from disaster, making it all the more remarkable when people do not.

In World War II, Adolf Hitler tried to break Britain’s resistance by relentless bombing raids targeting London. As prime minister, Winston Churchill was a target; nonetheless, he insisted on watching the nightly raids from his roof and walked the bombed streets with the smoke still rising.

As he walked, he wept.
